Online Mini-Panel

Let’s travel the world! Camp YA’s Demet (@books_polished) chats to author Lise Villadsen (In Your Orbit) and translator Caroline Waight all about fiction in translation: the process, the exciting opportunities as well as the pitfalls. Translation is an artform in itself and this mini-panel will explore how translating can be a tricky thing indeed and how even the best prose can end up “lost in translation.”

Caroline Waight is an award-winning literary translator working from Danish, German and Norwegian. She translates both fiction and non-fiction, with publications including The Lobster's Shell by Caroline Albertine Minor (Granta, 2022), Island by Siri Ranva Hjelm Jacobsen (Pushkin Press, 2021) and A Line in the World by Dorthe Nors (Pushkin / Graywolf, 2022). Most recently, she was a finalist for the 2023 PEN Translation Award.
