Fireside Reads

8 August 2021     The Camp YA Team     Activity

One of our favourite activities during camp is sitting by the warm fire on a cold night. You hear the crackling of the wood, feel the wind creeping into your bones and listen to the noises nature makes deep into the night.

From the comfort of your own home, listen to the dulcet tones of some of our authors as they read from their favourite stories.

About Amy McCaw

Whether it’s books, films or TV shows, when it comes to the macabre, Amy McCaw’s got you covered. When she’s not writing YA mysteries like her debut Mina and the Undead, Amy enjoys travelling and every Buffy the Vampire Slayer convention she can get her hands on.

About Ava Eldred

Ava Eldred was born in London, and has spent much of the last decade writing and developing stage musicals, and working in theatre in the West End and beyond. Her work has been performed both in London and internationally. She is a recent graduate of Faber Academy's Writing A Novel course, and a life-long fan of boybands. The Boyband Murder Mystery is her debut novel.

About Kat Ellis

Do not read Kat Ellis’ books with the lights off. You have been warned. Her YA thrillers, with just a touch of weird, have been spooking readers since 2014. As is appropriate for a horror writer, Kat loves to patrol graveyards with her camera and watch scary movies with her husband.

About Katherine Webber

Katherine Webber is a YA and children’s author. Her most recent YA novel is ONLY LOVE CAN BREAK YOUR HEART, and her upcoming YA includes THE REVELRY (Jan 2022) and the YA fantasy rom-com TWIN CROWNS (publishing May 2022, co-written with Catherine Doyle). She also is the co-author of the young fiction series SAM WU IS NOT AFRAID and the bestselling DRAGON REALM books, which she co-writes with her husband Kevin Tsang. Katherine is originally from California and currently lives in London with her husband and young daughter.

About Kathryn Foxfield

A reformed microbiologist, Kathryn Foxfield now writes dark books about strange things. She blames her love of the creepy and weird on a childhood diet of Point Horror, Agatha Christie and Dr Who. Her YA thrillers GOOD GIRLS DIE FIRST and the upcoming IT'S BEHIND YOU centre around characters who aren’t afraid to fight back - but she insists she wouldn’t last 5 minutes in one of her own stories.

Before writing her first novel, Sera dabbled in the theatre, worked as a bookseller, taught drama classes for children, and dispensed romantic advice to internet daters. She lives just a whisker outside London in the UK with her rescue dog and wonky cat. She loves musicals, comics, and telling her many houseplants that they need to let her love them, while she watches them slowly die. You can find Sera at www.seramilano.com and on twitter and instagram @seramilano This Can Never Not Be Real is her first young adult novel.
