Every year Camp YA hosts a “New Horizons” panel where we put the spotlight on YA authors from other parts of the world. This year join host Jacqueline Silvester (Wunderkids Trilogy) as she leads a discussion with popular Ukrainian YA authors Natalia Matolinets (Varta in the Game Trilogy) and Anastasiia Nikulina (The Snowstorm) on the ups and downs of writing, the changes in Ukrainian publishing, and how to channel your feelings into your art. Join these authors as they chat success, paranormal forces, folklore, and the surprise appeal of parkour.

About Anastasiia Nikulina

Anastasiia Nikulina is a Ukrainian writer of 16 books, blogger and book reviewer. She writes books of various genres (thriller, adventure, psychological drama, romance) for a wide audience.
The author's bestseller and long-seller was the highly social and psychological drama Salt for the Sea, or the White Whale on topics of suicide, bullying, parents and children (winner of the international Ukrainian-German Literary Award and the Award Best Book for Young Adults 2018). In 2022, with the support of the State Cinema of Ukraine, a film of the same name was released.
She also wrote the extreme novel «The Crew» (shortlisted for the BBC Book of the Year 2018 and the winner of the Espresso. Readers' Choice 2019 Award), the psychological thriller about the price of fame Nobody More ( co-written with Oleg Bakulin, who is currently at the front, defending us), the romantic mythological fantasy novel The Snowstorm (winner of The Coronation of Words Award) and adventure story for children Snow Thieves.
In 2022 she published 2 books: an art diary of a full-scale war in Ukraine The All Clear (artist O. Grekhov). The second is an adventurous and positive story Here I Come, co-written with Oleg Bakulin.

About Jacqueline Silvester

Jacqueline Silvester is our resident author at Camp YA. As a writer of stellar science fiction set far away from home, she knows exactly what it takes to be Team Beaver’s camp councillor. Jacqueline is also a citizen of the world, having lived in several countries and speaking four languages.

About Natalia Matolinets

Natalia Matolinets is a Ukrainian author of 7 award-winning novels, including urban fantasy trilogy “Varta in the Game"", awarded as Best Debut and Best series. Her books and short stories are translated into several European languages and English. She was awarded the Chrysalis award but the European Science Fiction Society (2023).
